Mariah Torres Akamarre was born in 1997 in Adelaide and is the daughter of the internationally renowned and respected art dealer, Fred Torres. She is a young emerging Aboriginal artist following the footsteps of their Grandmother and Great Grandmother Barbara Weir and Minnie Pwerle.

Mariah’s paintings represent the dreaming of their families country is ‘Atnwengerrp’ titled ‘Awelye – Teaching Awelye to young girls’.

She and her older sister Mariah have inherited all the talent of their famed family predecessors. 

At 23 years of age, Mariah, born and bred in Adelaide has a dynasty of artistic ancestry, painting is in her blood. Her family, globally renowned Aboriginal artists Minnie Pwerle, Barbara Weir, Emily Kame Kngwarreye to name a few have played a huge roll in her artistic style and the success of the business.

Mariah is a passionate personal trainer that specialities in working with Aboriginal clients and families.

It was only in April 2018 that Mariah and her sister Jade picked up the paint brush and started to produce artwork.
